Yamaha Premium Style Roundup: Top Ten For Pop Music!

This week we're reviewing the newest and most notable Yamaha Premium Styles for Pop music. The definition of Pop Music has definitely changed over the decades, though it has maintained its core meaning: Pop is "Popular", or at very least socially and culturally accepted by a wide audience. The way we talk about music has certainly changed as well, and we are finding ourselves using adjectives that were once used to describe how music sounded as all-encompassing words to name modern genres. As a result, we have Pop music that isn't all that popular, just as we have "indie" music that isn't really all that independent. One thing you can be sure of, is that the best art and music is made when you're not thinking about how to describe it, or who will be listening. At Yamaha Online Services, we aim to give you the tools to make the music you want to make, and hopefully inspire you to share it with your friends and family!

Let's take a look back at some of the best Yamaha Premium Styles for Pop Music, however you would define it! Don't forget that all of these Styles offer 4 variations, with automatic voice selection when you turn on the One Touch Settings Link!

00's NY Diva
Clearly inspired by Lady Gaga's smash hit Poker Face, this Style offers some dirty and fat synth tones, with electronic drums and futuristic melodic voices. Speaking of voices, you'll find the One Touch Settings include two dance synths, a club style lead, and a modular synth lead.

Summer Pop
A lofty and bright Style with a true easy going feel. Perfect for summer songs of the 50's and 60's, featuring harmonica, organ, lead guitar and a beautiful string section!

Rosen Pop
An image of Berlin’s contemporary Pop/Rock scene. A driving rhythm moves this Style along, building from sparse roots and gaining intensity as you cycle through the variations. Featured voices include grand piano, harmonica, rotary organ, and a sweet lead guitar.

60's Brit Pop
British rock and pop groups started a musical movement in the mid-1960’s that spread throughout the English-speaking world. Here the distinctive rhythm and sound of Manchester in the late 60’s is recreated.

80's Pop
The sound of popular Central European bands of the early 80’s is beautifully captured in this Style. Great for middle of the road 80’s pop songs. Features steel drum, pan flute, marimba, and trumpet voices in the one touch settings.

Swedish Pop
In the 1970’s the sound of Swedish pop music rose to international acclaim, producing some of the world’s best selling records and hits that are still a fixture of radio playlists today. Relive the sound and the hits with this mid-tempo style, and use the pan flute, organ, vintage guitar, and sax voices to play your melody.

Mid 80's Chart Pop
A perfect style for the A-ha classic "Take On Me". This style features a few different synth voices, ranging from lush pads to wire leads!

60's Pop Beat
The 60's Pop Beat style has Roy Orbison written all over it. Classic piano, organ, and guitar voices lend themselves nicely to pop gems like "Pretty Woman".

Cool Ballad
Transport yourself into an early 90’s sound field complete with sparkling electric pianos - perfect for playing relaxed pop ballads.

Shadow Tango
This Tango Style was inspired by the song "Guitar Tango" by The Shadows. Shadow Tango features a couple of great Tango rhythms, and some sweet guitar voices that are reminiscent of the famous Shadows tone, which they originally achieved with Fender guitars, Vox amplifiers, and tape echo! You also get an orchestral string section, and a sweet trumpet to support your melodies!
