New Yamaha Premium Styles For Soul And Swing!

We're excited to add 2 new Premium Style Files to the Yamaha MusicSoft and Internet Direct Connection catalogs this week. Yamaha Premium Styles are created to the exacting standards of the pre-installed Styles within the Tyros4 and optimized in 4 other versions for the best performance in your keyboard.

Memphis Soul
Memphis Soul Music of the 1960's and 70's was defined by artists like Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, and Booker T. & The M.G.'s. This upbeat Style showcases the groovy bass and "in the pocket" drums that are the foundation of the Memphis Sound. With this Style's sultry organ and funky horn voices you'll have all the tools to make shimmering soul music!

50's Big Band
A more relaxed yet precocious style of Big Band music had taken shape in the 1950's. Pioneered by band leaders such as Count Basie, 50's era swing produced amazing musicians like Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, and too many others to name. This Style has a gentle, matter-of-fact swing quality that makes it really unique. Clarinet voices are featured prominently in addition to a breathtakingly authentic Big Band brass section, and the world famous Yamaha piano sound.

Spanning Decades And Genres Of Pop With New MIDI Songs

What is it about music that touches us so deeply? Music has defined generations with the influence of political climates, current events, religious and cultural beliefs, advances in technology, and social interactions amongst countless other variables. Particularly when we are young, music helps us define who we are and what we mean when we cannot express these ideas wholly on our own.

Perhaps this is what Nietzsche meant when he wrote "Music is the highest form of Art". When words fail, music speaks.

I think we can all agree that Nietzsche would lose his mind if we handed him a Tyros4 Arranger/Workstation, but the sentiment of his words seems appropriate for this week's batch of new MIDI songs on Yamaha MusicSoft and Internet Direct Connection. The new songs this week are as diverse as the decades and genres that describe them. At the heart of it, the music is a reflection of the people, and the people are a reflection of the music. Click below to listen to samples and check out the videos!

"Dog Days Are Over"

Florence & The Machine
The second single from this Brit Soul Rock bands critically acclaimed album: Lungs

"Rhythm Of Love"
Plain White T's
This is the new big single from this Illinois based quintet, and a perfect follow up to the 2007 smash hit: "Hey There Delilah". Another breezy soft pop tune for the beach.

"Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)"
Glass Tiger
An essential 80's pop tune. Canadian rocker Bryan Adams liked this song so much he sang the backing vocal on the original recording!

"96 Tears"
? & The Mysterians
Hands down one of the most instantly recognizable organ riffs of all time lives in this classic song from 1966.

"20th Century Boy"
T Rex
A big single in the UK in 1973 that helped to lay the foundation for what would become the Glam Rock Genre. With it's roots in blues, it's really the volume and "dirtiness" of the guitar tones that make this song stand out. Not to mention the catchy hook in the chorus.

"Jai Ho!" (You Are My Desire)
The Pussycat Dolls
Jai Ho! literally means "Be Victorious". This amazing song was written by A.R. Rahman who won the OscarAND the Grammy for Best Original Song for this tune in the film "Slumdog Millionaire". This version was a mega-hit for the Pussycat Dolls in 2009.
