NAMM Show Video Highlights - The DKC-850, Tyros3 Premium Voices, and More

The 2010 NAMM show was the setting for a number of exciting events for Yamaha we hope some of you had a chance to tune in to the live broadcasts on HubTV last weekend during the show. But, in case you missed anything, you can still find videos of all of Yamaha's performances, product demonstrations and press conferences, including many that will be of special interest to Yamaha keyboard and Disklavier owners, at the Yamaha NAMM site.

While Yamaha introduced a new flagship concert grand piano, the CFX, and a new flagship stage piano, the CP1, it's easy to overlook the very exciting news about the Disklavier DKC-850. The new Disklavier unit is a godsend to anyone using a Disklavier Mark III or Mark II, since this simple box will instantly give a Disklaiver produced as many as 20 years ago all of the high tech features of the latest E3 model. With a DKC-850 unit installed, Mark II and Mark III pianos can connect to the internet for online Piano Radio, load songs without a floppy disk through USB, and store thousands of downloaded or recorded songs directly on the unit's expansive hard drive. Sue Downs, a Yamaha Disklavier expert whose work you can hear on a number of PianoSoft albums, introduced the DKC-850 at the show, and you can watch her demonstration here.

Tyros3 and Arranger Workstation enthusiasts will want to take a look at this new demonstration from Peter Baartmans. In addition to a wonderful performance with the Tyros3's built in SA2 Clarinet voice, Peter shows off the sounds of the Tyros3 Choir and Vocals Premium Pack and the expansion SA2 Trombone Premium Voice. This video reinforces the fact that most people can't play a Tyros quiet like Peter does, but his demonstrations give a breathtaking view of the musical possibilities this instrument presents.

There are also tons of other videos available on the site, featuring Yamaha artist performances, like this one featuring (and PianoSoft recording artist) Philippe Saisse on the new Yamaha CP1 Stage Piano, and drummer Zak Bond on the new DTX Digital Drums.
