Learn How to Work With Styles On Your Keyboard

When you press the play button to start up a style on a Yamaha keyboard, you've got a beat to play along with, and probably you've figured out that you can play notes in the bass section of the keyboard to control harmonies too. But there's so much more to what you can do with styles - check out our first styles video to learn the basics. Learn how to change beats on the fly, change tempo, turn accompaniments on and off and more. Stay tuned for the second installment, where we'll get into the finer points of styles like fingering modes, split points and MultiPads.

This video is spoilt by background echo and poor (American drawl style) pronunciation. I have to use hearing aids and found it impossible to set them or my speakers to hear the words.
The musical exmples given were a waste of time so I did not learn anything from the video.

I totally agree. It is impossible to hear what is being said but it does not matter anyway as it is only a demonstration for complete novices..

Actually, this is the worst "instruction" video I have ever seen. And that says a lot ...

Yamaha is all suppose to be about top quality sound. This demo rates 2 on a scale of 10.
A waste of my time.
This is not the first time I've complained about this.
Listen to your customers, please!!

Rubbish Simplistic Rubbish!!! This just states the bleeding obvious!

What a missed opportunity! The Tyros 3 has still only got a couple of Rock/driving bass styles, & loads of samey old stuff no one ever touches.

What is needed is a tuition video to ease the learning curve of editing styles so we can at least try to update the styles ourselves as Yamaha clearly can't do it. Thought that was what the web link promised where in big letters it says "Master Styles to Become Lord of your Keyboard" & "Edit Styles Live" etc. Joke!

Why don't you get a professional who can talk clearly and succinctly in your videos?
It did nothing for me!

Why on earth was this video released with such a dreadful soundtrack? Completely useless.

I cannot believe that a company as big as Yamaha has allowed such 'rubbish' to besmirch its good name. What a wonderful opportunity wasted.

I totally agree with everything said today about the dreadful quality of sound and vision of the demonstration. All, that is, except I would rate it 0 on a scale of 10. Come on Yamaha, we pay good money for your products, give us better quality demos.

I also agree, what is the point in showing a video of such basic things, with poor speech and sound.

I agree with all the comments. Advertisements for the YPG-525 says you can download styles. So far all the styles available are not compatible to the YPG. Who wants "Balkan"and "Turkish" styles.
Very dissapointed with Yamaha. I am going to look ino Roland.

Hi fellow yamaharians,
well in all honesty i didnt find the tutorial very helpful at all.
Most people that watch theses tutorials need step by step instructions in order to achieve an undestanding of what the class is about.
I am sure everyone would agree that Yamaha needs to spend alot more resources and financial committment to its loyal customers in offering them way more in the way of tutorials for its equipement.

When I saw the latest email from Yamaha I thought oh good now I can get the gist of how the styles work. I was no wiser after listening to the clip as it was very difficult to understand the young man giving the commentry when I use my styles I go round and round in circles using up valuable time and gaining nothing from it is there any way of getting to grips with this?

I can understand that Yamaha is trying to publish introduction videos in the style of a cool and private blog style instead of the all well known and very professional people as Peter Baartmans for the Clavinova series.

But, please Yamaha, you can see the massive negative reaction of the people's comments here.
Go and find a person who's less aweful, has a little bit professional touch, but still talks in a casual way to introduce high professional instruments as the Tyros to pro-users, cause these are not videos for PSR keyboards!

I would like to address the fact that I think the cost of the Styles are too expensive. Does anyone else agree?

If this is the direction that Yamaha intends to take, then goodbye Yamaha. Come on guys, you can do 500% better without even trying. When I got the email I was interested but then I got ........ this.

I'm disappointed that Yamaha would support such a poor quality video. I just bought my new Yamaha piano and found nothing that helped me understand or learn how to work with styles on my keyboard. I suggest that for the money I paid, I get better quality videos. The best salesperson is a satisfied customer - I suggest Yamaha learn this tidbit.

Your products are very sophisticated, you need great videos to accompany your products so your customers can wring out the performance you you build into them. This video was awful! Get in touch with what your customers want and need, and spend a little money on good instructional videos. You can make money on them too. But for goodness sake, help instruct your customers to operate the the keyboards they bought from you!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the comments. This was our first shot at a real musically based video on the blog, so we understand there are a lot of points we need to improve in future videos. As we mentioned in the video, we have plans to release another video about styles in the near future, probably next week. Expect to see many of your comments answered in the next video.

We're also thinking up plans for more in depth videos to really explain how Yamaha instruments work in regards to styles, songs, etc.

In any case, rest assured that your comments are being heard and taken into consideration by the people who are making these videos.

Thanks again for your continued support of Yamaha.

Good idea, but you need to do it properly. this video is absolute rubbish. The demonstrator needs to speak slowly and clearly and preferably when the keyboard is not playing. Utterly useless for him to be jabbering over the top of the style playing. If this is the best you can do --forget it. Jean.

Doug

Hope you live up to your promises

If you REALLY ARE "thinking up plans for more in depth videos to really explain how Yamaha instruments work in regards to styles, songs, etc" then that would be great

We're waiting to be impressed!

If not, then don't bother!
